About me
A starry-eyed dreamer at heart, the journey is best captured for me by Garth Brooks’ song ‘The River’ – “ever changin’ as it flows”. ‘There are bound to be rough waters” (may I always choose to learn from these experiences and become stronger for it), and seize the opportunities “to chance the rapids and dare to dance the tide…”
I like to think of myself as a ‘world citizen’. Born in the US, raised in the US Virgin Islands and living in Belgium for 12 years, ‘home’ and ‘nationality’ are relative terms. Independent, adventurous and result-oriented are among the generation X traits that describe me. Reliable, thoughtful and considerate on good days, lovingly exasperating on others (just ask my wonderfully patient husband), I was raised with the message, “It never hurts to ask”.
Things that bring a smile to my face:
Friends & family, music (especially Coldplay!) Thai and French cuisine, full-bodied wines (with hints of black cherry, vanilla, butter or citrus), travel, tall toffee nut Starbucks lattes (extra hot), sun and light, Paddington Bear, chocolate chip cookies, beautiful shoes, a good book, movies with happy endings, spa getaways with the girls, freshly cut grass, sunflowers, the ocean (the story behind my username!)
Things that make me cranky:
Being cold, hunger pangs, people chit-chatting on the plane all night long, insecurity, indecision, broken promises, rain, greasy food and bad comedy (aka politics) and chipper morning people.
Undecided: the gym

Thanks! AND for making the first comment on my blog! Start with homemade apple sauce – and you’ll get there! And about that awesome cheesecake you were telling me about? …

Hi! Your Mom just gave me your blog address and it has been so much fun reading about your cooking experience. We are snowed in and can’t get up the hill so it’s snow shoes and an adventure to our local market. I can’t wait to hear about your trip with your Mom when she returns.
Love to you and the husband!
Paula

Hi Paula! I’ve been watching the news coverage of the big snow and it’s impressive! I’m sure it’s pretty to look at – I’m not sure about snow shoeing to the local market though…! Sounds like you guys are taking it all in good stride. Love to you all too!

Hi!
Loved your blog, and I think I’ve seen enough snow flakes to last me a lifetime. Everyone told me when I sold my 4wheel drive that I would never have a problem in “Vancouver”. My prius, that I love for it’s gas mileage and minimal Environment footprint, is basically a “sled” in the snow. Everyone is suggested I get a few sled dogs and hook them up. Merry X-Mass Molly

LoL – I can just see you with a couple Huskies (says this UW grad!) and a sled – from the looks of the pictures, might not be a bad idea! Hang in there and Merry X-Mas to you too!
