About this site
This site is about life’s little pleasures and daring to dream, believing and embracing the unexpected.
Launched in December 2008, it’s an outlet where I can write again (in response to encouragement from family and friends) and a place to capture thoughts and memorable experiences from abroad.
My goal is to update this at least once a week so watch this space. Oh yes, this is written in ‘the Queen’s English’ (aka British spelling) if you wonder why I spell ‘colour’ with a ‘u’… I have finally given in to the many English and Irish influences around me and go to the ‘cinema’, not the ‘movie theatre’ and think ‘organisation’ is really spelled with an ’s’.
The sections:
Captured moments - a story worth telling and sharing
For laughs – things that bring a smile to my face
Random thoughts – everything you never needed to know but will hear about anyway
The quote tree - a collection of my favourite quotes
Links – my favourite websites (the sites that make me laugh or where I go for useful information)

sunflowersbythesea’s English teacher said, “Let me know when you win an award for your writing”. All of us in the family have experienced her emails and letters that tell it like it is–we have always loved to receive them.
I consider this blog as one of the best gifts she can give her husband and our family. Personally, I am delighted that she now can share her adventures/learnings with not only the family, but the world.
Hold on to your hat—the adventures will take you all over the world.
A proud Mom, Kathy, Vancouver, WA

Thanks for the encouragement! I promise to keep it up if it is a welcome distraction from your work. Just always read with a Starbucks in hand!
